 About Graham

Graham studied German Language and Civilization at Reading University. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 while working with Grant Thornton. After a period working as Financial Accountant for Oxfam he moved into teaching and began working for Oxford Polytechnic (later Oxford Brookes University) in 1991.

Teaching Expertise and Experience

Graham's teaching experience covers the three main strands of Accounting education. He has led modules in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Corporate Finance. These modules have covered Undergraduate, MBA and MSc programmes. During his career Graham has been Field Chair, Department Head and Business Academy Coordinator' with responsibility for developing programmes.

Other responsibilities have included Liaison Manager roles with Nilai University and Polish Open University. After a break of some years he is currently fulfilling the role of Liaison Manager with Nilai University again. Graham also undertakes various duties with the Department's BSc Applied Accounting programme.


Aside from his professional interests, Graham is actively involved in the Oxford Oxfam Group (a fundraising and campaigning group) and enjoys outdoor pursuits such as cycling, walking and bird watching. He is also interested in modern languages.

Research Activities

Graham's PhD concerned the evolution of German accounting in the context of European Accounting Directives, and looked at the political process these underwent, as well as the mutual influences between German and other accounting traditions.
